NATERNAL™: Regenerative Beauty seen by SYENSQO

In a context where preserving our planet is becoming a priority, and where consumers are increasingly sensitive to the environmental impact of their actions, the demand for environmentally-friendly cosmetic products is constantly increasing.

Thanks to its long-standing partner, SYENSQO, formerly SOLVAY NOVECARE, Summit Cosmetics Europe offers a range of guar gums that take care of farming communities, consumers and the planet. This range, called NATERNAL™, represents Regenerative Beauty.

The NATERNAL™ range is composed of NATERNAL™ EXCEL SGI, NATERNAL™ C500 STD and NATERNAL™ HP-8 COS SGI. All 3 are rated according to the Beauty Biodeg Score. The aim is to guarantee their biodegradability through a ranking. This scale, based on OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) guidelines, specifically OECD 301 F and 302 B and created by SYENSQO. It measures the level of degradation of cosmetic ingredients by micro-organisms over a given period.

Derived from natural sources, NATERNAL™ are biodegradable polymers with conditioning or thickening properties depending on the grade.

NATERNAL™ EXCEL SGI – INCI name: GUAR HYDROXYPROPYLTRIMONIUM CHLORIDE

NATERNAL™ EXCEL SGI is produced from guar grown in farming villages in Rajasthan, India, which are part of SYENSQO’s Sustainable Guar Initiative programme.

NATERNAL™ EXCEL SGI offers good substantivity and does not build up on the hair. It enables transparent foaming formulas to be developed, thanks to its good compatibility with the anionic and amphoteric surfactants commonly used in hygiene products.

COSMOS-approved, it offers excellent detangling properties and also improves the deposit of active ingredients such as silicones, oils and anti-dandruff agents on the hair.

NATERNAL™ EXCEL SGI is classified as Inherently Ultimately Biodegradable – Score B – according to the Beauty Biodeg Score, created by SYENSQO.

NATERNAL™ C500 STD – INCI name : GUAR HYDROXYPROPYLTRIMONIUM CHLORIDE

NATERNAL™ C500 STD is a cationic polymer derived from guar gum with low viscosity.

COSMOS approved, it offers a conditioning effect by facilitating the deposition of active ingredients without weighing down the hair. NATERNAL™ C500 STD is ideal for hair products requiring low viscosity properties.

Can also be used on the skin, NATERNAL™ C500 STD can target different hair types: fine hair and scalps prone to dandruff.

NATERNAL™ C500 STD is classified as Inherently Ultimately Biodegradable – Score B – according to the Beauty Biodeg Score, created by SYENSQO.

NATERNAL™ HP-8 COS SGI – INCI name: HYDROXYPROPYL GUAR

As with NATERNAL™ EXCEL SGI, NATERNAL™ HP-8 COS SGI is derived from guar grown in villages in Rajasthan that are part of the Sustainable Guar Initiative programme. With thickening properties, it helps to boost the viscosity of hair cosmetics as well as skincare products. It is suitable for eco-responsible anhydrous cleansers.

NATERNAL™ HP-8 COS SGI is a non-ionic polymer compatible with dilute alcohol solutions containing up to 30% ethanol with good electrolyte compatibility and stability over a wide pH range.

NATERNAL™ HP-8 COS SGI is classified as Inherently Ultimately Biodegradable – Score B – according to the Beauty Biodeg Score, created by SYENSQO.
